An unknown neo-Gothic, beautiful building

This church, built in between 1882 and 1885, is located along the Passeig de Sant Joan street, and it is one of the most beautiful examples of new-Gothic style that you can find in Barcelona.

The project was developed by the architect Joan Martorell, with the collaboration of a young Antoni Gaudí.

For being such a beautiful architecture, unfortunately its past is characterized by some dark chapters: as a matter of fact, both the church and the convent suffered serious damages during the Spanish Civil War, when they were set on fire, and some mummified bodies of nuns were sacrilegiously dig up and exposed at the entrance door.

The Parroquia de San Francisco de Sales is a Catholic church located in the Eixample neighborhood of Barcelona, Spain. It is named after Saint Francis de Sales, the patron saint of journalists and writers, and was built in the late 19th century in the Gothic Revival style.
